MTV/Myspace launches groundbreaking Presidential forums
“Tired of scripted, old-style Presidential debates? MySpace & MTV join forces to empower you to ask questions directly to top Presidential candidates and respond to their answers in real-time,” reads Myspace.com.
In their continuing effort to engage young people to get active in the political process, MTV and Myspace have teamed up to bring the Presidential Candidates from both political parties to the stage to answer questions from the audience and from online. Non-traditional styles of forums like this really get the candidates to open up and speak more candidly than they do in the more traditional and more structured debates.
During the first of these forums Senator John Edwards took questions
from a studio in New Hampshire, and in real time was given results and viewer feedback on his answers. While watching I didn’t see a time when he didn’t get 60% + approval, and I expect similar results from our other Democratic Candidates. It will be interesting to see how the Republicans do, since we all know that young people today are more and more likely to identify with the Democratic Party.

Though I’m an Obama supporter, I must admit Senator Edwards did a great job. We have a great field of candidates this time around!
