On Thursday, April 02, 2008 the NAU Young Democrats placed flags in the ground early morning outside of the School of Communication building on campus. Over 4,000 flags were placed in the lawn, each representing a fallen soldier in Iraq.
Young Democrat Ed Hermes, an official with the Arizona Dept. of Agriculture and former ASU student regent, has announced his candidacy for the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors.

Radical conservative coalition targets Day of Silence

Since 1997, schools and colleges nationwide have participated in the Day of Silence, a day of action when students take a vow of silence to raise awareness about the rejection, harassment, bullying, and discrimination that faces LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) students. The project has expanded to more schools and seen greater participation from young people each and every year. This year, however, radical right-wingers and social conservatives have mounted a campaign to bully schools into pulling their support of the National Day of Silence.

John McCain on Health Care

Recently, John McCain received questions from reporters concerning the effects of a rigorous presidential campaign on his age and health. Besides assuring the American people of being in good health, Senator McCain reported that “like most Americans, I go see my doctor fairly frequently.” Once again, the presumptive Republican nominee for President shows just how out of touch he is with the American people. The soaring costs of health care and lack of access to quality insurance coverage is, in fact, preventing thousands of Americans from seeking medical attention, including regular check-ups to their doctor.
